SOTC is a win-win. While employers provide challenging paid internships, SOTC gives employers access to a large talent pool that is attracted to our program because of its free housing, special events, and community of peers. Employers can be assured that when interns are not working, they are enjoying an immersion experience that will keep them connected to Cleveland and Northeast Ohio (NEO) long after their summer here.
Meaningful internships are the core of the Summer on the Cuyahoga (SOTC) program. The challenge is for the employers to create exciting job descriptions that detail the levels of engagement the student will have, the types of projects he/she will be working on, and the short- and long-term impacts their work will have on the organization and community.
In addition, while the students are in Greater Cleveland for their internships, the interest, enthusiasm and engagement of the employers are critical elements in making our region an attractive option for full-time employment, which is the ultimate goal of the SOTC program. As an added benefit to our employers, SOTC now has a Jobs Bank which SOTC alumni (more than 850 since 2003) can access. There is no charge for posting a full-time position, and our SOTC alumni have already been “sold” on living in our region. Once you click LOGIN, follow the prompts to post a full-time position.
